Building the 120 Ton Wrecking Crane – Finished

I seem to have neglected to post the final steps and images from this build. Not too unusual for me. I also didn’t take a ton more photos during the final steps. But I have a few to share and the final product turned out pretty well.

The next step was to assemble the boiler, the winch mechanisms and all the controls and piping.

Next I washed all the parts with warm soapy water to prep them for painting. Here they are all laid out.

After letting them dry for a few days I rattle-can sprayed them black. I made up the decal placement because I couldn’t find really great photos of a GN crane. Here is applying the decals.

I also built the boom car. Here are some photos of that.

Building up the deck – installing the extended stirrups.

Building up the spine and brake gear.

Installing the bolsters.

Assembled with brake piping.

I rattle-can painted the boom car with some red and here I’m applying decals.

That’s really all the build photos I took, but here are the finished cars.
