To pass the time while the layout has been sitting (and while the mud is drying) I’ve been building stuff again.
I bought the Campbell stock loading pen kit a while ago and decided it would go well on the second section of the layout. I like to refer Campbell kits as “boxes of sticks” and that is what this kit really is.

I didn’t take a lot of in-progress pictures. This is the final glue-up.

I decided the pen was a little fragile, so I made a base out of hardboard and painted it to look like mud/dirt and glued the pen to it. I’ll add more scenic stuff to it later but I think it turned out well.

I also decided I wanted a better model of a grain elevator and the Berkshire Valley Models re-issue of the American Model Builders elevator looked like it would do the trick.
Here I am getting started.

And this is the current state. I have a large sign I want to put on the side and I want to add decal lettering on the front. I just need to get back to it.

I’m not sure what is going on the third section of the layout, but I know the fourth is going to have a canyon of some sort and that means trestle bridge. So I bought another Campbell box of sticks and started that kit. That’s a lot of ties.

All the bents are finished now and the next step is laying the rails on the deck. I’ve started that but no picture to show yet.

That’s all for now. I’ll post more pictures when things are further along.
